PostgreSQL Vault
Your backups, offsite, encrypted, restore-tested every month
A backup that sits on the same server as the database is not a backup. The Vault is an S3 bucket in your name, at a European provider, copied across 3 zones in France. You push your backups with the tool you already use. Every month I restore a copy on a throwaway machine and send you a dated report.

What is included
- An encrypted S3 bucket in your name, with its own access key.
- Works with pgBackRest, Barman, WAL-G and pgCellar.
- Client-side encryption recommended: the key stays with you, I cannot read your backups.
- Copied across 3 zones in France.
- Alert if no backup has arrived for 26 h.
- Automatic monthly restore test with a dated report: proof for NIS2 or your insurer.
- Reply within 1 business day.
Why so cheap
Storage costs me about 16 EUR per TB. I sell space and a test, not hours. I prefer a low price and many customers who stay.
Questions
Who can read my backups?
Nobody at dbfactory if you encrypt on your side (recommended). I never open a backup without your written request. With server-side encryption only, it is weaker: your choice.
Where is the data?
In France (Paris), at Scaleway, a European company, across 3 zones.
What if my backup is corrupt?
The monthly test catches it and you get the alert with the report. Without a successful restore test, I do not guarantee a backup can be restored.
My tool is not listed?
Anything that speaks S3 works. Write to me.
What if I exceed my storage?
You pay 0.05 EUR/GB/month extra, or move up a plan. I warn you first.
Can I leave?
Any time on the monthly plan. You take your data back (75 GB egress free each month).
Want me to run the backups too?
Vault only stores them. If you want the backup tool set up, monitored and restore-tested for you, see Managed backup.
Already had a Restore Check?
One month of Vault S is on me. See Restore Check.
